Foodtrip: Basilio's Basil-based Pasta and Resto

Let's all pretend that I haven't been MIA for the longest time ... 

Introductions are one of the most awkward thing there is.

So just yesterday I was able to once again try Basilio's Basil-based Pasta and Resto in Koronadal, South Cotabato. I say once again because this is one of those restaurants that my family loves going back to even if it's in a different city from where we go home to.

Aside from the food, what I really like about this place is the aesthetics that it's going for.

Swimming with the Whale Sharks of Oslob, Cebu

Whale-watching in Oslob has created plenty buzz lately and now it's in everybody's bucket list, especially because when you're in Oslob, you're sure to see one. Swimming with the butanding (whale shark) was definitely quite an experience for me. There's something extremely magnificent about these giants. With their size, they could easily be the king of the ocean. But up close, they're so gentle and almost vulnerable.

Truth be told though, I had second thoughts about writing this post. I'm really still on the fence here. The more I read about the butanding, the more convinced I am that these gentle giants should be left alone. I was especially convinced when I read this article from Sierra Madre Divers. On the other hand, their presence at Oslob definitely placed the little town's name on the map, boosted the tourism, and helped people have jobs. 

Travel Log: Kawasan Falls, Cebu

As I am writing this, the sky is so gloomy outside, it looks like it just watched a really sad soap opera. I'm pretty sure it's going to rain this afternoon too.

There's just nothing that makes me miss summer more than a cold weather and heavy rain. And I think I had the longest ever string of get-aways for this year's summer. One of the firsts was during March, when my sister and I decided to explore parts of Cebu that we haven't explored yet. It was actually a three-day trip. Our first day was spent within the city and I may, or may not blog about as it's all city-ish stuff. The second day was a visit to Cebu's most popular falls, Kawasan Falls at Barangay Matutinao, Badian.

At this point, I should probably go on with the how-to-get-here details and lay down the facts. I will. In a moment. Gotta show you pictures first, boring stuff later.

Kawasan falls is comprised of three falls. Before reaching the first one, we had to take a 15-20 minute hike. This I don't mind as we had to follow this river here. The river itself is a beautiful sight already.
